An Introduction to the PTA
PTA exists for the benefit of all our children. All parents/carers with a child at the school are members and a committee is formed each year to organise events and activities such as the Christmas party, school discos, May-Day teas (along with the WI) and fundraising events such as table-top sales, jumble sales, quiz nights, raffles etc.
The current years committee are:
Chair- Mark Twynham
Vice-chair- Tracy Smith
Treasurer- Clare Stone
Secretary- Helen Glenn (helenv.glenn@virgin.net)
Fundraising officer- Ce Hicks
Staff representatives are Emma Hick and Anna Wild, Vicki Smith, Jim Hudson.
Committee members Lou Knapman, Lynne Ducker, Liza Howells, Jo Wrigley, Jo Probert, Kirsty Kirk, Karen Kershaw, Sara Hoyle, Sarah Twynham, Angela Jenkins
PTA acts as a link between parents/carers and the school and also has a role to play in passing on concerns and making sure they reach the relevant person. The money raised to PTA is used to purchase equipment to benefit all the children some examples are, outdoor play equipment, wet play resources, computer software, PTA has also contributed to the cost of training football coaches for after-school clubs. PTA are always grateful to people who are able to give some time to help out at our events, we all lead busy lives and sharing the work-load around just makes it easier to do it better.
The PTA is here for you and your child so if you haven't helped out yet this year please try and find some time at the next event to volunteer in any way you can by contacting anybody on the current committee. You will always be welcome and appreciated.
