How a Parent Can Get Involved

Document Actions
A brief explanation of how a parent could begin to get involved in their child's education and help them progress. Study after study have shown the importance of parental help in getting students to achieve their full potential.

Stage 1:

Know where your child is in each subject - by using the parent portal to review the child's current National Curriculum Level or GCSE grade, their target grade, and level of effort. This is particularly important in those subjects where the child has been identified as underachieving by their teacher (this information is also visible through the Parent Portal).

Stage 2:

Identify specific areas to improve. These could be particular topics, skills or knoweldge of concepts. You can find these out on the subject's area on this website. If you are in doubt you can contact your child's tutor who can feedback advice from the relevant subject teacher.

Stage 3:

Address these weaknesses by using materials/ links provided on this website (or from elsewhere on the internet) or by the class teacher (again ask your child's tutor to sort this out for you).
